APA Maryland’s Regions

To better serve our members, APA Maryland divides the State into four regions: the Eastern Shore, Southern Maryland, Baltimore Metro, and Western Maryland. Each of these regions has an elected representative on the Executive Committee who represents the interests of each region’s members.

The Eastern Shore Region

The Eastern Shore Region

Eastern Shore Region

The Eastern Shore representative is elected to a two-year term. Each term starts on even-numbered years. This is a voting position on the APA Executive Committee, and represents the interests of APA Maryland members in Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties.

The Southern MARYLAND Region

The Southern MARYLAND Region

Southern Maryland Region

The Southern Maryland representative is elected to a two-year term. Each term starts on even-numbered years. This is a voting position on the APA Executive Committee, and represents the interests of APA Maryland members in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties.

The Baltimore Metro Area Region

The Baltimore Metro Area Region

Baltimore Metro Area Region

The Baltimore Metro Area representative is elected to a two-year term. Each term starts on even-numbered years. This is a voting position on the APA Executive Committee, and represents the interests of APA Maryland members in Baltimore City and in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties.

The Western Maryland Region

The Western Maryland Region

Western Maryland Region

The Western Maryland representative is elected to a two-year term. Each term starts on even-numbered years. This is a voting position on the APA Executive Committee, and represents the interests of APA Maryland members in Allegany, Frederick, Garrett, and Washington Counties.

The WASHINGTON Metro Region

The WASHINGTON Metro Region

Statewide Representative / Washington Metro Region

The Washington Metropolitan Region is technically not a part of APA Maryland. Due to historic reasons related to the creation of the American Planning Association in 1978, these two counties are a part of the National Capitol Area Chapter of APA. Even so, APA Maryland has many members who are located in this area, and they are represented by the Chapter’s Statewide Representative. Like other area representatives, the Statewide Representative is elected to a two-year term. Each term starts on even-numbered years. This is a voting position on the APA Executive Committee, and represents the interests of all APA Maryland members, including those in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
