Attendees will gain knowledge from these sessions to help the health care delivery sector and housing stability /affordability sector identify opportunities to develop collaborative programs that address these critical connections.

The first day of the series is on September 17th at AFI in downtown Silver Spring.

  • We have Marc Elrich, Montgomery County Executive, who will discuss Montgomery County’s initiatives to fight homelessness. In such a wealthy county, we have the resources to make the number of homeless people as small as possible.

  • Our keynote speaker is Peter Edelman, Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Law and Public Policy; Faculty Director, Center on Poverty and Inequality who will discuss his new book, Not a Crime to Be Poor. He has spent over 50 years working on how poverty impacts quality of life and the systemic issues that make escaping poverty extremely challenging.

  • We also have a panel of experts who have launched initiatives to ensure stable and affordable housing for those that need it.
