Baltimore Transportation: Past and Future
By YPT Baltimore
President Biden's proposed infrastructure bill has a lot of people talking about what transportation will mean in Baltimore in the future. Baltimore's new Complete Streets manual has us looking at our right of way as a place for people, and not just cars. And Maryland's Transit Caucus in the General Assembly has been having some success in passing priority legislation.
As we look to the future, its important that we understand how we built our transportation system in the 20th century. Frank Murphy has been with the city since 1974, and was a part of helping to build major infrastructure projects, like the Harbor Tunnel, and minor projects, like the setup of Lombard St.
Jerome Horne is a Baltimore native, who has worked at IndyGo in Indianapolis, and currently works for Foursquare ITP, and is in the process of moving back to Baltimore. He was Mass Transit Magazine's 40 Under 40 in 2020, APTA Emerging Leader Class of 2022, and has been featured on the Talking Headways podcast. He is very in tune with the things that are happening on the transportation front.
Join us on May 11 from 6:30-7:30 for an exciting discussion on the history of Baltimore transportation and how the new Infrastructure plan may pave the way for future transit opportunities in the region. This will be a moderated discussion with time for questions, so please either submit them ahead of time, or during the event!
