The Maryland Planning Commissioners Association (MPCA) Conference offers Planning Commissioners, Board of Appeals members, and anyone interested in citizen planning an opportunity to learn, share experiences, and exchange ideas. The previous two MPCA conferences have been conducted virtually in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the organization is thrilled to be able to meet again in-person in 2022!
The conference venue is still being determined. The MPCA will update this site and inform stakeholders once it has settled on a venue.
Preliminary Program
The 39th annual conference will offer topics of interest to the more than 1,400 citizen planners serving Maryland's counties and municipalities. The 2022 conference agenda is still being developed, but in addition to the state mandated Planning Commissioner Training Course and the Open Meetings Act Training, session topics will focus on how planning commissions and boards can collaborate with planning staff, elected officials, and other stakeholders to address and prepare the challenges facing our communities, such as climate change, hazard mitigation planning, infrastructure planning, post pandemic recovery, and more. The MPCA will post preliminary agendas and the final agenda here as they are prepared.
The MPCA is partnering with the Maryland Department of Planning to develop a few sessions that will be eligible to earn AICP CM Credits.
